In a bizarre bit of “viral promotion,” Baskin-Robbins has introduced a Facebook game featuring Jersey Shore “star” Pauly D. Likening their new soft-serve blends to Pauly D’s hot DJ mixes, you can drop in pre-selected beats and make a “remix.”

It’s nothing special, as far as online advertising goes, but we have to wonder when watching Pauly’s intensely stoic performances in the Flash game, is that the best Baskin-Robbins could get from Pauly? He’s clearly working off cue cards, and his expression is as motionless as his Aquanetted hair helmet. Evidently, acting like a douchey DJ in real life is easy, but faking it proves difficult for Mr. D.

I highly recommend playing with the game to watch Pauly’s various scripted responses. Additionally, if you post a “mix” to your wall, you get a coupon for a free music download with the purchase of a “31 Below.” One can only hope it’s for a terrible trance/house track that the Jersey Shore-ites dance to.

For those who aren’t aware, this week is the Noise Pop Festival here in the Bay Area.

Somewhat like SXSW and CMJ, Noise Pop is a festival that takes place all over San Francisco (and Oakland, this year) featuring the best in new bands, and a few big names. This year’s festival features Yoko Ono, Deerhoof, Magnetic Fields, !!!, the Dodos and John Vanderslice, among others, paired with a slew of up-and-coming Bay Area bands.

What does this have to do with a company like ours? Firstly, as huge Bay music fans, we’re always happy to see Noise Pop bring some of indie music’s best-and-brightest to SF clubs with our favorite locals.

Additionally, awesome local videographers Yours Truly are filming the whole thing, and from what we’ve seen so far, they’re going to put together some fabulous footage of this year’s festival. Based here in the city, the video blog has already shot some amazing artists, like NY’s Holly Miranda, shown below.

Check their blog — you’ll find tracks from the Morning Benders, Wavves and Best Coast — and if you see ambitious young men with cameras at this year’s Noise Pop, buy them a drink, won’t you?

Enter the new face of San Francisco’s neighborhood renovation, Hayes Valley Farm. For years, a closed-off chunk of highway has sat in the middle of the growing Hayes Valley neighborhood, and as of a few weeks ago, the volunteer-driven HVF are turning it into a community green space that also provides organic produce to the neighborhood.

Combined with serious marketing savvy (check the quality on their video promotion!), the Hayes Valley Farm has already made a solid web impact with their community-based approach to local farming and public green space.  We highly recommend reading their Twitter, which reads like a Web 2.0 version of Green Acres (“We have already converted 100 cubic yards of mulch, 4,000 lbs of cardboard and 2,000 lbs of manure to soil!”).

Learn more about the Hayes Valley Farm here.

It’s been a pretty awesome week in San Francisco. The Hot Toddies & Tempo No Tempo played Wednesday, while Mos Def and Jay Electronica performed at the Independent, Daedelus and Nosaj Thing are playing Saturday night at Mighty, and as you can see here, Exile was at Elbo Room this week, too. Sheesh.

So, it’s going to look like this, right??
