As per usual, when the blog is quiet, it means that things are busy here at French Press Films.

We’ve been hard at work with clients Sungevity, as well as an exciting new project with SF’s Green Apple Books. Above, Sungevity President and Co-Founder Danny Kennedy shows us around their new digs, and yes, their sales floor.

Here, Green Apple’s co-owner Pete Mulvihill tells us about their Book vs. Kindle campaign from awhile back, their Book of the Month videos (that we produced with them) and how an independent store can triumph over the chains with the power of viral and word-of-mouth promotion. Stay tuned, kids!

Our client Sungevity has recently released a brilliant website providing a solar iQuote for none other than the White House.

The site includes a Sungevity iQuote for the Obama family, as well as a timeline of solar panels at the White House, detailing Presidential solar history like the solar-free Reagan years and surprising solar investments by George W. Bush. Additionally, the site allows visitors to sign a petition asking the President to invest in solar energy for the White House for those who want to get involved.

Now, the question is, are the Obamas ready to go solar? There have been similar calls to action by sites like Renewable Energy World, urging readers to email the President to install solar panels on the White House. Additionally, Obama has been a vocal supporter of alternative energy sources, placing grants for solar investment in the Recovery Act.

Still, Obama has made no publicly announced plans to add a solar array to the White House. But that might all change, as Sungevity’s push puts their money where their mouth is, with the donation of a free Sungevity solar array for the White House to spur the President towards a solar-powered home. It’s a bold move from Sungevity, and a sizable incentive for President Obama to share the power of the sun.

When we’re not posting goofy videos, we’re editing, writing, shooting, animating, mixing… whew. Among other projects, we’ve been gearing up for our upcoming Sungevity ads (check your television soon!), which will soon be seen all over Bay Area cable. You won’t be able to get away from ‘em. They’ll haunt your dreams.

We created spots for the upcoming cable and online campaigns, and also created six informational spots about how Sungevity works. We wanted to make them user-friendly, like a video FAQ for homeowners that want a solar system –part animation, part talking heads– all compacted into easy-to-digest, one-minute increments. Basically, the videos we created for our client have helped them shape their message and even how they train their staff. Amazing, right?

Now located in the heart of the growing Jack London Square, Sungevity’s going to rise even higher this year. We’re so excited to watch this local company skyrocket to the top of the Green Energy market and that we’re a part of it.

…And now for something completely silly:

We’ve been working with an amazing client, Sungevity, a solar power company based out of Berkeley. The fellas and I were commissioned to make a series of both informational and ad-based videos for them, which was a lot of fun. Here’s the first – “Share the Power of the Sun” which has a special cameo by Francois Truffaut (f’reals!).
